…if you don’t mind spending the cash to get something of a very high quality, the Hawkesmill Borough makes a very well made, very comfortable choice! – 35MMC
Borough Leather Camera Strap
We tried dozens of leathers before settling on Horween Chromexcel for our leather camera straps. We were looking for a leather that was durable and could take daily abuse, but that was soft on the interior of the neck pad. Some leathers seemed to work, but had terrible colour-transference. Our white shirt collars were left with stains. Horween Chromexcel is, in our minds, the only leather worth using for camera straps.
• One size fits all. Strap is adjustable from 100cm – (39 3/8″) to 130cm – (51 3/16″).
• Width: 8mm (Neck Pad – 4cm)
• Two colours available: brown and black.
• Horween Chromexcel leather. Known for its durability and softness, as well as its lack of colour-transference. Meaning, the dye will not rub off on your clothes.
• Each strap is riveted at stress points. Recommended max weight is 5lbs. Although straps have been tested to support weight up to 30lbs without breaking or splitting.
• Flat mount. Fits most flat mount cameras, including Canon and some low to mid-range Nikons. Can also fit all lug mount Nikons and vintage 35mm cameras fitted with a v-shaped split ring. We’ve also used these on vintage Rolleiflex cameras with great success.

About the Borough leather camera strap
There are very few companies making leather camera straps for flat mount cameras, i.e. Canon and some entry level Nikons. There are even less making them using exclusively leather. Generally they will have leather straps and a canvas, or synthetic neck pad. The bulk of brands out there make straps for lug mount cameras, for instance, Fujifilm, Sony and prosumer and professional Nikon cameras. The construction methods used in lug mount straps are less labour intensive than flat mount straps. There are less pieces and there is more leather surface to work with on a lug mount strap.
When we developed our range of camera straps, the Borough and Westminster straps were the first ones to get produced. The reason being that we shot with both Nikon and Canon. And even though it may be more difficult to produce a leather camera strap for flat mount cameras, we knew we had to do it.
Why is it more difficult to produce leather camera straps for flat mount cameras? Because the average flat mount on a camera is less than 1cm wide, you need to make a leather camera strap that is slim enough to fit in to the mount, while being strong and durable. There are a host of leathers one could use for this purpose, and they would work. But a strong leather doesn’t necessarily mean a comfortable leather. Which is why we use Horween Chromexcel leather for all of our camera straps, including the Borough strap.
One of the great benefits of these flat mount straps is that they are adjustable. This takes the guesswork out of trying to figure out what size you need to get for your body and the way you use your camera and strap. With a range of between 100cm and 130cm the Borough camera strap gives the user a great degree of flexibility when it comes to the length of the strap.

I can clearly, without hesitation, say that this is one of the finest leather camera straps I have ever seen or owned. The leather is soft, the stitching is flawless. As usual – you get what you pay for. Several websites have already labeled Hawkesmill as the best camera strap in the world and I have to agree 100%. – Read full review.
The Hawkesmill camera straps are incredibly well made, feel great, and overall have a nice appeal to them. They surely do their job and they do it rather well. If you want one strap that’s absolutely perfect and gives you room to make adjustments accordingly, then spring for these straps. – Read full review.
Overall I absolutely cannot fault this strap so can comfortably give it a 10/10, and I’m generally fussy. Sure the price is high but so is the quality. Buy one of these and you’ll probably not need another for at least ten years. – Read full review.

After receiving the straps beautifully presented, the smell of leather was the next thing I noticed. First impressions were VERY good. The leather is strong and the straps easy to fit. Fine details matter to me and these straps don’t disappoint, from the logo stamp to the buckles,, it’s clear a lot of thought has been taken in the design and production.
As a full time photojournalist, strong reliable kit is important and after around three or four months of daily use and abuse, the straps have held their own in any weather condition. Attached to a 1Dx and a 5dmkiii they support the weight perfectly and grip the shoulder better than a regular strap that you get with the camera.
Now worn in the straps look better than ever, and still hold that gorgeous leather smell that hit me the day I opened the box.
Other photographers are constantly commenting on them, many putting them on their wish list.
If you want a solid, reliable strap that looks as great too, shop no further, add one (or two) to your basket. You won’t be disappointed.

Fantastic strap, made out of top notch materials!
I have been using one of these straps for 4 months now and I am very impressed. The purchasing experience was good; fast delivery and nice packaging.
Very easy to install on the camera with a good amount of adjustment to get the right fit.
The strap itself if a deep brown horween leather which has a unique texture and feel; deeply oiled, flexible, and absolutely bombproof. After a fair amount of use it shows no signs of wear and really feels like it will last forever.

Absolutely LOVE this camera strap! This is by far the best camera strap I’ve used. I am a wedding photographer and shoot about 30 weddings a year along with tons of other engagement shoots, family shoots etc. so I get a lot of use out of my camera strap. I’ve had my camera strap for about 9months now and I’ve got to say it’s still is great condition!
I also noticed that this strap doesn’t dig into my shoulder like ones I’ve used in the past. I find that it’s pretty soft on my shoulder and distributes the weight well.
Great great product!

After buying the wrong strap first and having to return it, which was a very easy process, Hawkesmill sent me the correct strap and it is so lovely! My husband was thrilled. He says it fits his Nikon D3300 perfectly and never takes it off. Thanks for making it easy guys!

I just wanted to say how impressed I have been with your after sales service. You are to be commended for pursing me as your customer and going the extra mile. Thank you so much, it is so refreshing to have a company act in this way and with such generous efficiency.

Just wanted to say THANK YOU so much for shipping my camera strap so soon – I actually received it yesterday.
I must say it is exceptional!
The leather is amazing, the hardware understated and fits the “look” perfectly and the straps securing to the camera are perfectly sized and sturdy; I imagine the larger neck part will sit snuggly and securely in place on my neck –
I am most pleased and cannot wait to use the camera with my new strap this coming weekend on my upcoming trip!
I was using a Roberu Leather Factory strap previously and it was magnificent in feel and look, but, despite the many compliments I received while using it, it threaded itself loose through the camera clips – a problem I will not have with your strap (plus the look of my new strap will be quite the addition to my new camera!)
Thank you so much again for getting the strap to me so quickly!

Now I am hoping to be able to order a bag next!

Agree with all of the other comments. This camera strap puts all others to shame! It is soft, tough and looks amazing. What else could you want!

Having never owned a camera strap other than the one supplied with my Canon I had no clue what to expect. But I thought I’d treat myself and I’m happy I did. This strap is like a fine wine. It is great when new and only gets better with age. I like that it’s adjustable like my current camera strap. I love how soft it is and I love the little details. It is stamped with logos and made in england stamps at a couple of locations and I just think that’s a really nice touch. 🙂

I bought this strap mainly for the looks. But once I wore it with my Canon I felt the difference in comfort. The price may seem a little bit high, but it’s totally worth it. The soft leather and width of the strap distributes the weight of your camera in an ergonomic way, which you couldn’t tell just by looking at the strap. Now I have my Hawkesmill strap on my Canon Ft QL to complete the vintage look on my camera. Thanks Hawkesmill!

Beautiful camera strap for my Canon DSLR. I wanted something adjustable and my options were pretty limited. This is perfect. Thank you!

I own a couple of Hawksmill straps for my Nikon and Leica cameras. But this is the only strap that works with my Canon. The quality is exactly the same and its adjustable, unlike their other offerings. Very happy with it!

Nice, if not a little expensive. But if you want hand made and you want Horween than there aren’t that many options. Hawkesmill has insanely good customer service too. And their warranty is very generous. My only complaint would be I now want all of my cameras to have Hawkesmill straps. And that will not be cheap!!!!! HAHAHA!

Perfect fit for my Canon R. Much nicer than the Canon strap that came with my camera. I’ve owned this strap for about 5 years now. I had the pleasure of being one of their first customers. I first met the team at the Photography Show in Birmingham. Great bunch of people!

After getting annoyed at their Insta advert about 100 times, I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about. Glad I did. These guys are legit! I love their stuff. And their customer service is stupidly good!!!

This company knows what they are doing. They really are a breath of fresh air. I signed up for their newsletter and followed them on social a couple of year ago. Couldn’t afford their stuff until recently.
And through the years I have been blown away at their honesty, integrity and attention to detail. When I finally was able to purchase this strap, I had high high high hopes. And they didn’t disappoint. It works flawlessly with my camera. But there is one problem…. now I want everything they make and I’m going to go broke!
