I love hanging the Hawkesmill Borough leather camera strap around my neck. It looks great, feels great, and performs well. – Best Leather
Borough Leather Camera Strap
We tried dozens of leathers before settling on Horween Chromexcel for our leather camera straps. We were looking for a leather that was durable and could take daily abuse, but that was soft on the interior of the neck pad. Some leathers seemed to work, but had terrible colour-transference. Our white shirt collars were left with stains. Horween Chromexcel is, in our minds, the only leather worth using for camera straps
• One size fits all. Strap is adjustable from 100cm – (39 3/8″) to 130cm – (51 3/16″).
• Width: 8mm (Neck Pad – 4cm)
• Two colours available: black and brown.
• Horween Chromexcel leather. Known for its durability and softness, as well as its lack of colour-transference. Meaning, the dye will not rub off on your clothes.
• Each strap is riveted at stress points. Recommended max weight is 5lbs. Although straps have been tested to support weight up to 30lbs without breaking or splitting.
• Flat mount. Fits most flat mount cameras, including Canon and some low to mid-range Nikons. Can also fit all lug mount Nikons and vintage 35mm cameras that are fitted with a v-shaped split ring. We’ve also used these on vintage Rolleiflex cameras with great success.

About the Borough leather camera strap
There are very few companies making leather camera straps for flat mount cameras, i.e. Canon and some entry level Nikons. There are even less making them using exclusively leather. Generally they will have leather straps and a canvas, or synthetic neck pad. The bulk of brands out there make straps for lug mount cameras, for instance, Fujifilm, Sony and prosumer and professional Nikon cameras. The construction methods used in lug mount straps are less labour intensive than flat mount straps. There are less pieces and there is more leather surface to work with on a lug mount strap.
When we developed our range of camera straps, the Borough and Westminster straps were the first ones to get produced. The reason being that we shot with both Nikon and Canon. And even though it may be more difficult to produce a leather camera strap for flat mount cameras, we knew we had to do it.
Why is it more difficult to produce leather camera straps for flat mount cameras? Because the average flat mount on a camera is less than 1cm wide, you need to make a leather camera strap that is slim enough to fit in to the mount, while being strong and durable. There are a host of leathers one could use for this purpose, and they would work. But a strong leather doesn’t necessarily mean a comfortable leather. Which is why we use Horween Chromexcel leather for all of our camera straps, including the Borough strap.
One of the great benefits of these flat mount straps is that they are adjustable. This takes the guesswork out of trying to figure out what size you need to get for your body and the way you use your camera and strap. With a range of between 100cm and 130cm the Borough camera strap gives the user a great degree of flexibility when it comes to the length of the strap.

I can clearly, without hesitation, say that this is one of the finest leather camera straps I have ever seen or owned. The leather is soft, the stitching is flawless. As usual – you get what you pay for. Several websites have already labeled Hawkesmill as the best camera strap in the world and I have to agree 100%. – Read full review.
The Hawkesmill camera straps are incredibly well made, feel great, and overall have a nice appeal to them. They surely do their job and they do it rather well. If you want one strap that’s absolutely perfect and gives you room to make adjustments accordingly, then spring for these straps. – Read full review.
Overall I absolutely cannot fault this strap so can comfortably give it a 10/10, and I’m generally fussy. Sure the price is high but so is the quality. Buy one of these and you’ll probably not need another for at least ten years. – Read full review.

I own their Sloane Street bag and knew the quality I could expect when I ordered this strap. It is just as luxurious and beautiful as their bags. Fits my Canon 5D Mark III perfectly! I’m only 5’4″ and finding an adjustable neck strap has been hard. This works perfectly and goes down to the right size for me.

Over the years, I have owned numerous camera straps. A few were made of leather, but most were constructed of other materials. All, however, were fairly expensive, thus I expected great results from them. After all, they felt good in the various photography stores that I frequented, but the few minutes I wore them around the shops did not give me a real-world experience. Still, I managed to convince myself that the straps would do me well. In almost every case, however, I eventually tired of the “spongy” feel of some of the straps, and the propensity of the others, with their limp and skinny secondary straps, to get entangled as I went about my days in the field. The straps were eventually moved into the back of my gear closet.
A few months ago, I happened upon an advertisement for Hawkesmill camera straps. The photographs of the Borough straps caught my eye but decided against buying yet another strap. I turned off my computer and went for a hike, even while my latest excessively-padded strap, attached to my D810 and lens, was bouncing on my shoulder. It was then that I stopped in my tracks as a heron gracefully stepped along the shore of a pond. I reached for my strap and fumbled as I tried to put the bouncing camera into place. The movement of the camera caught me off guard. I missed the shot.
What I did not miss the next day was the opportunity to place an order for the Borough strap. A few days later, the strap arrived, and I am not ashamed to say that I held it for a long time before easily attaching it to my camera. The strap is a thing of great beauty and looked like it belonged on my Nikon. You will read others comment on how soft the leather is. I fully agree. Others will herald the strength of the leather. I agree. Having had my share of “bouncy” and “easy to tangle” straps, I am delighted to report that the wonderful Hawkesmill product “hangs” extremely well and feels like it is a mated part of my system instead of jumping around at every opportunity.
Since the arrival of the strap, I have hiked in many places and during some rather inclement weather. The strap has performed as an integral part of my kit. I rely on this strap and remain in awe of its perfection.

BEAUTIFUL CAMERA STRAP! Just get it. You won’t be sorry you did. I’m using this on my old Canon 1V film camera and love it! Gives it a very cool retro feel.

I found Hawkesmill online about 6 months ago. I was looking for leather camera straps and found an article reviewing a whole heap of straps. But this was the only one made in England. So I went for it. I couldn’t be happier!
They shipped the strap out quickly. It arrived in this little box and inside was tissue paper with their logo on it. Very nice touch! Inside the tissue paper was a small dust bag with their logo on it. Also a nice touch! They really make you feel like you’re bought something special.
And then finally you’re presented with this beautiful camera strap. I love the details on it like the “handmade in England” stamped onto the leather.
The strap was very easy to fit onto my Canon 6D. Just slide it through the loops and you’re done. I’ve been shooting with this strap now for a couple of months and it only gets better looking and more comfortable!

I have been using my borough strap for over a year now. It has become an old friend already. It never leaves my camera!
Your company should be congratulated for producing such a fine product. I wish you much success in the years to come! My only wish is that you had more colors to choose from. But maybe in the future.

This camera strap is flawless. I didn’t think I would become a camera strap snob, but this little piece of perfection has truly converted me in to a full believer in quality goods. While the price did make me think twice when purchasing, the smell, feel and look of real, bonafide leather is beyond anything I could have expected. To top that off, I never thought I would get compliments on a camera strap…people don’t stop telling me how awesome it is. It just rocks. (I’m using this on my Sony Fs5 video camera and it’s holding up nicely!)

Excellent in every way! I’ve used the borough camera strap on multiple weddings with my Canon 7D II and it is always commented on… even more than my camera. A real show stopper. And ohhhh sooo soft!

On Friday last week I ordered a couple of camera straps.
I am in New Zealand.
This morning (Wednesday following) I put the Westminster on my camera, where it will be staying.
Between Hawkesmill and DHL I’d say that’s pretty impressive.

Having recently invested in my first mirrorless camera, Canon EOS M6 mk II , and not liking the strap provided, I threw caution ( and the remains of my bank balance ) to the winds and ordered the Borough strap. Hawkesmill provided me with a 20% discount which helped me not feeling so bad about spending this large amount on an accessory. Despite the proximity of Christmas and the ongoing pandemic the strap arrived three days later with my postman. Nice box with Hawkesmill tape, inside a circle of paper with Hawkesmill emblem and then, preceded by an amazing aroma of leather…. the strap. Lovely antiquated shade of brown, soft and pliable with buckles and rivets of highest quality. I had a slight problem attaching one side to my camera as the mounts are really tight but once fitted the camera looked a real class act. Every morning, freshly made coffee in hand, I open my camera bag and inhale deeply that evocative smell of leather. Never was the saying “ you get what you pay for “ more true. Go on treat yourself…. you’re worth it !

Such a great quality camera strap. I use it for both my new canon digital cameras and older ones as well. It’s been about 9 months and it still looks new and smells really good.

An almost PERFECT camera strap! As others have said! I can’t fault it. But if I had to, I would say that the thin straps kind of bob around a little. Would be nice to see some kind of way of holding them down. But again, this is a small criticism. I love my strap!!!

This leather camera strap bought for my Leica SL is a great mix of style and comfort. The premium leather feels nice and holds up well, making it perfect for long shoots. You can easily adjust the length to fit just right. Plus, it looks awesome with the camera, adding a cool touch.
